Responsibilities:

Accountable to provide safe day-to-day operational management of kraft recovery operations in support of 1000 t/d pulp mill. This process area includes the recovery boiler, evaporators, and the lime kiln/recaust operations.

Responsibilities include day-to-day operations of recovery processes, coordinating activities with other team leaders, personnel development coordinator, and maintenance coordinator, and ensures environmental compliance of the processes. Also provides leadership for quality improvements to meet needs of internal customers and optimization of processes to be stable and capable. Sets priorities and approves work on equipment maintenance needs to assure reliability. Works with the operators and engineers to ensure assets are meeting or exceeding productivity targets at lowest possible cost. Position works with maintenance on equipment modification needs and capital engineering to justify and execute capital projects in the area. Position responsible to set repair day and annual outage scopes and schedule for the process areas. Responsible to develop operating personnel in the recovery area to improve their contribution through training and employee involvement. Responsible for the creation and periodic review of SOP’s and system lockouts for the process areas assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in chemical, mechanical, industrial, electrical, pulp and paper engineering, or related field and a minimum of five 5 years of industry experience preferred. Experience with kraft pulping recovery operations preferred. Successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership, safety awareness, good follow-up skills, coaching and team work focus, quality orientation, effective written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills. A strong candidate will have a strong technical background along with the ability to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication and technical skills are a must.
